Liquid latex is sold as wound-building material, and that is only half of what it is. The other half, the half most people actually buy it for, is glue. A bald cap is the clearest case. The cap itself is easy; the edge is the whole difficulty. A thin line of latex along that edge blends it into the forehead and holds it flat for an evening, and the same applies to a fake nose, a scar appliance or any prosthetic piece. One ounce is a great deal of glue: an edge takes a few drops. As make-up it does what colour cannot. Brushed onto the skin it dries within minutes into a thin flexible film that bends at the jaw and over the knuckles without cracking. Tear that film while it is still setting and you have an opening with a real edge; work blood into the opening and you have a wound rather than a red mark. It takes powder and colour on top, and it peels off in one piece when the night is over. A word about quantity, because it decides whether you are happy with this bottle. One ounce is plenty for gluing, plenty for hands, a cheek or a small burn, and it is not enough for a body. Anyone building a full zombie torso should plan on a second bottle rather than being surprised halfway through. The 1 oz size is what makes it portable. It fits a make-up bag, so a lifting cap edge or a loose appliance is fixed at the venue instead of at home on a shelf. One caution that matters: this is natural latex. Test it on a small patch of skin 24 hours before the event, keep it away from eyes, lips and hair, and do not use it if you know you react to latex.
